06 Apr Success story: Rita Magarati
In Sindhupalchok, Nepal, we met Rita.
When we arrive at her home, she welcomes us with a quiet smile, yet a deep sense of pride in her eyes. In front of us stands a small greenhouse. Inside, rows of tomatoes, cucumbers, and squash are carefully cultivated.
Just a few months ago, this land did not allow her to generate any income. Rita used it to grow grass to feed her livestock, with no real prospects for development.
Last January, thanks to the support of CIAO KIDS and its local partners, she received a greenhouse.
A simple change on the surface, yet a transformative one.
Today, everything has changed. Rita grows her own vegetables and sells them to local schools, directly contributing to children’s school meals.
She now earns an income, gains independence, and most importantly, regains control over her daily life while providing for her family.
Each harvest represents a new source of income and stability, and we realize how a single act of support can turn into a lasting opportunity.
She is a powerful example of these women who move forward, support one another, and build—step by step—their independence.
