From Intern to Entrepreneur: Wasim’s Inspiring Journey

A few weeks ago, during our field visit to Northern India, we had the pleasure of reconnecting with Wasim in his village of Murto.Il y a quelques semaines, lors de notre visite de terrain au Nord de l’Inde, nous avons eu le plaisir de retrouver Wasim dans son village de Murto.

Back in 2017, Wasim completed a computer training course at our learning center in Chanho. At the time, he was working in various small local businesses, with little job security and limited opportunities for professional growth.

A few years later, his story has taken a remarkable turn.
Today, Wasim runs his own digital service center, which has become an essential resource for people in his community. Every day, he helps villagers with a wide range of important tasks: completing administrative forms, applying for disability identification cards, accessing insurance services, withdrawing money online, and navigating various digital procedures.

These may seem like simple services, but they make a significant difference in rural areas where access to administrative and digital resources is often limited.
During our conversation, Wasim proudly explained that everything he is able to accomplish today is directly linked to the training he received in Chanho. The program not only provided him with practical skills, but also helped him build independence and confidence. It gave him the tools he needed to create his own business, generate a sustainable income, and become a key contributor to his community.

Beyond one individual success story, an entire village now benefits from his services.

For us, this meeting was a powerful reminder of the impact vocational training can have when combined with an individual’s motivation, hard work, and perseverance. Training. Empowering. Creating independence.

This is how lasting change happens: one person at a time, one family at a time, one community at a time. And what a privilege it is to witness this impact firsthand in the field.
