Behind the numbers: women transforming their future

Around the world, one in three women has experienced physical or sexual violence during her lifetime.
Nearly 2.4 billion women still do not have the same economic rights as men.

In Nepal, more than one in three young women is married before the age of 18.
In India, women’s participation in the labor market remains significantly lower than that of men.

These numbers are global.
They are national.
But above all, they are human.

Behind them are faces.
Mothers.
Young girls.
Women who simply want the ability to choose their own path.

Where we take action

In some rural villages of Nepal and India, being born a girl often means starting life with fewer opportunities.

Less access to education.
Less financial independence.
Less decision-making power.

And yet, we see it every day:
when a woman gains autonomy, everything around her begins to change.

What we do concretely

At CIAO KIDS, we have chosen to act at the grassroots level.

In 2025, in Nepal:

  • 421 women actively participate in savings groups

  • 305 women received material support (seeds, poultry, goats, agricultural greenhouses…)

  • Schools purchase 50% of their food directly from them

This creates a local and circular economic model.

But above all, it creates confidence.

The invisible changes

A woman opening her first bank account.
Another daring to apply for a microloan.
Another speaking up in a community meeting.

Little by little, fear recedes.
Confidence grows.
Decisions begin to change.

Children stay longer in school.
Families become more stable.
Communities become more resilient.

Supporting a woman does not help just one person.
It strengthens an entire ecosystem.

On this March 8, we celebrate these quiet transformations.

And we thank everyone who helps make this change possible.
