Our goal is to make these women financially independent, to give them confidence in themselves and their abilities, to help them take control of their lives and build their future. The ultimate goal is to succeed in bringing about an economic and social change that benefits the entire community.

Tribal families live in conditions of extreme poverty and over-indebtedness. Self-management groups (or mutual aid groups) for women and mothers are community credit and savings programs that promote internal loans. 5,500 women have been trained and supported by our social workers, particularly in setting up income-generating activities (e.g. small livestock breeding, village grocery store, sewing workshop) and to make them aware of their rights in order to claim them from the government. These meetings are also a platform for awareness-raising and discussion on topics such as health, hygiene, agriculture or children’s education. It is also an opportunity to follow training in sewing, literacy, agriculture, etc.
