Our Foundation was created in 2008 in Lausanne by Philippe de Preux, its president. After losing one of his sons, Philippe de Preux took early retirement from the company where he worked to honour the mission that he had been given, namely to help children in disadvantaged countries.
Since then, our goal has been to improve the living conditions of tribal families and Dalits (formerly called Untouchables) and defend their rights so that they can lead a more dignified and autonomous existence.
The Foundation is recognized as a non-profit organization, which means that all donations are tax-deductible, and is supervised by the Swiss Federal Supervisory Authority for Foundations in Berne. Donations are used entirely to carry out our mission in India and Nepal, while administrative costs in Switzerland (rent, secretariat, communication, fund-raising) are covered by our patrons.
Six people are working to accomplish the mission of the CIAO KIDS Foundation in Switzerland and one in India: Mr. Philippe De Preux, founding president, supported by 4 members of the foundation board, as well as a project manager and 60% responsible for fundraising. In the field, a part-time Program Manager supervises a team of around forty committed partners and three dynamic NGOs collaborating daily to advance our common mission.
Finally, to complete these teams, independent experts in communication and digital strategy as well as a network of volunteers with specific and varied skills provide their support and expertise to the CIAO KIDS Foundation.
